Trick #7: Declunkify the Windows User Interface
Windows Mobile is a perfect example of what happens when all you have is a hammer and you treat every problem like a nail. Why would anyone think that trying to shrink the Window’s desktop user experience to a mobile device was a good idea? So we’re going to find a good program launcher and task switcher to help you get rid of that stylus. My choice at the moment is a sweet little program called GoodWin. With GoodWin, you can greatly reduce (but not eliminate) your dependence on the stylus and the start menu–neither of which are a great way to navigate a mobile device.

Each application icon in the launcher has a generous hot spot to allow you to start your program.
Trick #8: Migrate Vital Functions and Info to the Desktop
Sometimes it’s hard to manage your phone with those tiny keys and a stylus. If you have a ton of contacts that need editing, you’re not really going to want to do that with that little keyboard on your phone. And just thinking about doing it with a stylus gives me a migraine.
In those cases, Dashwire can be your best friend.
Dashwire will let you sync and manage your contacts, text messages, pictures and video. It has an interface to the CallWave voice messaging system which will allow you to capture, playback and even intercept voicemail messages on your PC for free. So if you get charged to check your voicemail like I do, you can cut that out right away.
It works in the background, constantly keeping your phone synced with the Dashwire Web site.
